Among the activities that were part of the Congress of the Association of Green Space Professionals of Catalonia, which took place last week in Olot, was the Speed Gardening Contest.
In it, the participants, various professionals and students from the sector, had five hours for the materialization of their proposals for the contest, in which Sala Graupera collaborated by providing the plants for the creation of these gardens.
All proposals had a considerable presence of plants, which is appreciated, since in this type of event creative freedom and more experimental proposals sometimes leave this very important part of gardening, which is vegetation, in the background.
The general feeling is that both the congress attendees and the inhabitants of this town in the comarca of La Garrotxa, well known and visited for its unique volcanic landscape, have enjoyed this unique event.
The winner of the Contest, an award granted by popular vote of the almost two hundred attendees at the Congress, was the garden titled Plant Attack, work of three students from the School of Agriculture of Barcelona . And in which they proposed a hypothetical "accidental spill" of vegetation, which colonizes the Earth leaving behind human actions on the natural environment and questions man's control of the Planet.
Beyond the final result of the contest, the conceptual approach made in this proposal is interesting, where on one hand reference is made to the risks associated with certain types of energy when an accident occurs and on the other hand, it takes a stance on the paradigm shift in the relationship that exists in urban environments between green and built.
In the case of Plant Attack the presence of plants was massive, beyond the urban furniture elements and some folies that gave character and content to the proposal, practically the entire intervention was based on vegetation.
Among this vegetation, we highlight the presence of some plants, for their relevance in this garden, such as [Euphorbia "Diamond Frost"](http://www.salagraupera.com/es/bloc/item/111-novedades-en-el-vivero-i) which we recently presented in another post and which was still in full bloom, the [Leptospermum scoparium "Martini"](http://www.salagraupera.com/es/cataleg/general/item/leptospermum-scoparium-martinii-2) and its striking intense pink flowering, the [Miscanthus sinensis "Yaku Jima"](http://www.salagraupera.com/es/cataleg/graminies/item/miscanthus-sinensis-yaku-jima-2) with its graceful spikes or the [Leucadrendon "Safari Sunset"](http://www.salagraupera.com/es/cataleg/general/item/leucadendron-safari-sunset-3) an interesting protea with reddish apical leaves, which stood out above the rest of the vegetation.
The other three gardens presented, Franjas Vivas, Desorden Constructivo and La Transformación, were also very interesting, as well as some of the species these proposals had, which we will present in the next post.
