While walking through Barcelona one can find interesting gardens where least expected. This corporate garden, but accessible to the public, is linked to the Jardins de Maria Àngels Anglada i d'Abadal and stands out in the urban fabric for its uniqueness. Located in a shady place and slightly sunken relative to the street, it gives rise to a well-resolved space that combines functionality and striking design, with quality landscaping and low maintenance needs.
In the furniture and pavements, contrasting colors stand out along with forms typical of interior space elements, but adapted to the outdoors. The vegetation is treated in a simple but elegant way and relates the environment very successfully to the interior of this garden. It flows from the top of the perimeter slopes to integrate into the seating area and the building's reception esplanade, in the lower part.
Among the plants, it is worth highlighting Pittosporum tobira "Nanum" which is the species that gives shape to the green mass. In this plant carpet are inserted other groups of shrubs, some evergreen and others deciduous, some with summer flowering and others winter, which are responsible for dynamizing and adding a touch of color throughout the year to this plantation dominated by different shades of green.
**\*Pittosporum tobira\*\*\*** "Nanum"\*\* is an evergreen shrub with little development; at maturity it reaches a height of about 60cm and horizontally can develop up to 100cm, so it works very well as a ground cover plant.
It likes both sunny areas and slightly shady places. Its flowering takes place in early spring, with inconspicuous but fragrant white flowers, which turn yellow as they mature and subsequently give rise to spherical woody fruits.
It is slow-growing and grows correctly in all types of soils, as long as they are well-drained. Its water requirements are low and it is very resistant to drought. It tolerates moderate frosts, down to -8ºC, and requires very little care.
These characteristics make this variety a very suitable plant not only for the garden but also for growing in pots.
In addition to the "Nanum" cultivar at Viveros Sala Graupera you can find other varieties of the genus Pittosporum such as:
