In these eminently vacation dates, we take advantage of this new blog entry from Sala Graupera to present one of the most relevant garden festivals currently being held on the Peninsula: the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival.

This competition, now in its ninth edition, is held in the Portuguese town of Ponte de Lima, located about 90 km north of Porto. And it has its doors open until the end of October. It is worth highlighting the remarkable influx of visitors that this gardening event attracts, which in the last edition received more than 100,000 visits; which gives us a reference of its relevance both locally and at the sector level.

Precisely this year, the Garden Festival has received the Garden Tourism Awards Prize, integrated within the North American Garden Tourism Conference, held in Canada this spring, in recognition of the important work done and its trajectory in recent years.

This competition features abundant participation of projects, mainly from different European countries, which is evident in the level of the proposals presented. Also noteworthy is the quality with which gardening and landscaping professionals work in Portugal, which is evident in the quality and finishes of the gardens presented.

The Festival is located in a venue prepared exclusively for this event, which is in a pleasant setting on the banks of the Lima river, and is composed of a total of 12 gardens. One of which is the winner of the previous edition, chosen by popular vote of visitors.

The theme of this edition is articulated around the motto "The Garden of the Senses." With this theme, when visiting it we can find gardens that use aromatic plants or edible plants, as an allusion to some of the perceptive senses. In any case, as it could not be otherwise, in an event of these characteristics in all gardens the aesthetic and visual part prevails with numerous resources that enhance the perception of the different spaces through sight.

Thus, from here, we encourage you to enjoy the gardens and this type of initiative during these leisure days.
